EQUI-FEEDS ENDURANCE RIDER TAKES TOP ACCOLADES IN NAMIBIA
September 2009
Exceptional sportsmanship has led young Namibian endurance rider, Bredell Wessels, to be nominated the Most Improved Sports Person of the Year Award for 2009 by Namibia Endurance. This follows Wessels' exceptional endurance riding performance which saw him crowned the Senior Africa Champion of 2009 and the Senior Rider of the Year award from the Endurance Association. Wessels' horse, Kalharabi Fordyce, who is fed on Equi-Feeds Enduro Feed, recently took the trophy for the Best Conditioned horse for the day at a club ride at Babi Babi where the sportsman took silver for his performance. At only 14 years of age, Wessels has showed his true sportsmanship by completing 2 397 competitive kilometres in his riding career. He has been competing in endurance rides since the young age of 6. In September Wessels represented Namibia at the Africa Championships in Walvis Bay where he and his ride, Kalharabi Nadir, also fed on Equi-Feeds, won the Senior division over 120km strenuous desert terrain. Here he was also a member of the senior Namibian team that won gold in the team competition at the Tri Nations. Wessels had been nominated for the Most Improved Sports Person of the Year award for 2009 because he "shows remarkable ability to become a great sportsman" said Namibia Endurance in the nomination statement. Equi-Feeds are proud to be associated with this exceptional young rider and his horses, congratulate them and wish them success in their endurance riding career. |
