EQUI-FEEDS-fed Bass stable mates triumph at 2010 J&B Met Day
-
January 10
EQUI-FEEDS-fed Mike Bass horses took home three of the top four places past the post in a thrilling J&M Metropolitan Stakes (Gr1). River Jatez, sister of the favourite Pocket Power, emerged from her legendary older brother's shaddow to take the ultimate win. A gallant Pocket Power finished in third place followed by Fort Vogue who placed fourth.

The coveted victory followed hot on the heels of the deadheat win by another EQUI-FEEDS-fed and Bass-trained horse Love Is In The Air and Gluwein in the Klawervlei Majorca Stakes (wfa) (Gr1) and in the J&B Reserve Stayers (Gr2), Greg Enion's Sangria Girl, also EQUI-FEEDS-fuelled, took the top spot.

The River Jatez win was worth R2.5m for the filly's owners, Marsh Shirtliff and Cedric and Barbara Amm.

Pocket Power rewrote South African horse racing history books with his spectacular three-year consecutive wins in the J&B Met and Queen's Plate in 2007, 2008 and 2009. He was crowned Equus Horse of the Year for three years running (2007 to 2009), shared first place with Dancer's Daughter in the Vodacom Durban July in 2008 and is the highest ever earner in South African horse racing history.

EQUI-FEEDS congratulates the owners, breeders and trainers for their horses outstanding performance at the 2010 Met Day and is proud to be associated with them.
